Nisha and Woody's Wedding at the Skirball Cultural Center

Friday, December 30, 2011
Fresh Events Company was very privileged and excited to work 2 weddings in a row at the amazing Skirball Cultural Center!  Two weddings back to back, but with completely different looks.  You can definitely see what a difference different lighting and florals can do and how they transform a space! Nisha and Woody were such a sweet and down-to-earth couple who wanted to feature a muted and neutral palette to match the grey and soft tones of the Skirball.

The couple met 10 years ago both through mutual friends and on a trip they had both taken to Chicago.  The two became friends and started a journey on a 10-year long distance relationship from Los Angeles to San Francisco, and even across the country!  Nisha works as an attorney in the beautiful city of San Francisco while Woody works in Los Angeles as a Graphic Designer and artist.

Their beautiful and romantic wedding featured colors of peach, blush pinks, and whites, creating a warm, elegant and whimsical wedding.  Following a gorgeous ceremony, guests dined on delicious food during the cocktail hour before coming into the ballroom for a delicious dinner featuring fish, steak, wine and champagne...and topping off the night with milk and cookies and an awesome ice cream station!

Chrystine & Michael's Wedding at the Skirball Cultural Center, Los Angeles

Wednesday, December 28, 2011

Chrystine and Michael are hands down one of our favorite clients to work with! Such a laid back couple who are both die hard Lakers fan (I knew we would get along just fine!).  The two go way back, Michael being best friends with Chrystine's older brother.  Her brother unexpectedly and tragically passed away in 2007, which brought Chrystine and Michael closer together as they supported each other.  The years went by and as they became closer, the time came in 2009 when Michael proposed to Chrystine at the top of the Tokyo Tower in Japan while on vacation.

The couple wanted to keep the ceremony simple and clean, really using the Skirball's beautiful and natural backdrop to speak for itself.  For the reception, Chrystine and Michael wanted a very colorful and dramatic appearance which was achieved through dark blue and purple wash lights and uplight and also a custom gobo that was lit onto the glossy white dance floor.  To create a fun and party-like environment, lounge furniture was added along with an awesome casino with full-sized blackjack, roulette, and craps tables.

Adorable details such as the Lakers garter, Chrystine's shiba inu Tsuki, the fabulous paper origami bouquets, the custom Kobe Byrant sneakers, and the GORGEOUS wedding dress, all added beautiful detail and color to this beautiful wedding.  And did we mention the wedding cake was made to mimic the Tokyo Tower where they got engaged?

Emilie & Tyler's Wedding at the Huron Substation, Los Angeles

Monday, December 26, 2011

This next wedding is filled with beautiful details, sweet and adorable ideas, and a unique and offbeat venue that will have you wanting to have your own DIY cozy wedding!  Emilie and Tyler are your modern, unique, and awesome couple who are so stylish and just plain cool.  The two met like many couples these days do, online.  After a crowded and loud first date at Father's Office, sharing a table with 2 businessmen out for drinks, sparks flew nonetheless and 2 years later, Tyler popped the question.  Tyler remembers his most memorable moment at the wedding to be his father's toast while Emilie loved the recessional after being announced man and wife for the first time, and the grand entrance where the two emerged from the lofty 2nd floor down to their friends and family.

Emilie was very involved in providing a lot of the vintage and adorable details that the wedding features.  With help from her family, they custom made table runners, pillows, sofa covers, and pennant flags for their escort cards...she and Tyler also worked together to make ALL of the paper chains that you see hanging at their ceremony!  70 of their closest friends and family dined on comfort foods such as macaroni and cheese and steak filet which was served up family style.  An awesome dessert table kicked off dancing for the rest of the evening.

Rachel & Dan's Wedding at the Bel Air Bay Club, Santa Monica

Wednesday, December 21, 2011

Rachel and Dan are two of most dedicated and passionate people we have ever had the pleasure of working with!  Dan is an entertainment lawyer at a major film studio and Rachel is a corporate lawyer who has also worked in film and television.  The two met in Hong Kong on a church missions trip and they came across one another one fateful night after an event.  Since then they have been inseparable, both being huge foodies they venture all around Los Angeles looking for new and exciting restaurants and with a huge soft spot for romantic comedies, they brought this into the decor and feel of their modern, romantic, fairy-tale wedding.

We love working at the Bel Air Bay Club, excellent views of the ocean, and the clubhouse is a wonderful venue to hold a romantic and cozy dinner.  Rachel and Dan held their ceremony on the beautiful lawn at the Bel Air Bay Club overlooking the ocean followed by a delightful cocktail hour.  Reception tables were named after their favorite romantic movies and guests dined on steak and lobster while enjoying exciting and emotional performances by their guests, bridal party, and bride and groom! The party continued as guests dined on cupcakes and danced into the night.

Sandra & Kenny's Wedding at the Langham Huntington

Tuesday, December 20, 2011
This next wedding just exudes class and beauty.  Sandra was such a sweet bride who's main concern was for her guests to have a wonderful time at her wedding, and she had an adorable Dachshund dog named Bimmer also, who was the sweetest and one of the smartest dogs I have ever met!  Sandra and her fiance Kenny had already taken part in a ceremony and celebration with their close family and friends in Taiwan but wanted their friends back in the states to also celebrate them.  The gorgeous November day came with lots of rain , but rain on your wedding is good luck and it allowed for some gorgeous photos as well.

Guests dined on delicious appetizers before heading into a 5-course meal provided by the Langham hotel in Pasadena, and was followed by some hilarious games with the guests such as a scavenger hunt and centerpiece giveaway game.  We wanted to highlight the beauty and ornate design of the ballroom so we kept lighting and florals simple with blush uplighting and cream and blush pink florals.  Lots of candlelight and mirrored tops allowed for beautiful reflected light to highlight the tables.  Check out the classy and elegant photos of our bride and groom below!
